How many clinics do you operate?
We have two rehabilitation clinic locations to serve you – a clinic in Toronto (Bloor Dufferin Rehabilitation) and a clinic in Scarborough (Active Therapy Works).
How quickly can I be seen from my first appointment?
We have a large staff of therapists physiotherapist chiropractors we can accommodate same-day appointments and emergencies.
What should I bring to the clinic for my first appointment?
Your therapist will like to see any pertinent x rays or medical tests. In addition after your initial consultation we will administer a treatment session. We recommend you wear loose fitting clothes.
Do I need a doctor’s referral to visit the clinic?
No, Physicians referrals are not necessary in order to receive treatment however some extended health care plans will require a physician’s referral. We are a close-knit Family of clinics your treatments can overlap with physiotherapy, chiropractic and massage treatments.
What should I expect on my initial visit?
Your initial visit will involve a very detailed assessment of your symptoms to determine the cause of your problems and get you back to your recovery. You can expect to be at the clinic for at least 1 hour please arrive at least 10 minutes earlier so that you can complete your initial registration. After the initial examination a treatment session will follow. Our therapist will tell you how many sessions are required in order to return you back to your daily activities.
What are my payment options?
Most extended health insurance plans cover the cost of services we provide. Many insurance companies allow for direct online billing – Green Shield, Sun Life, Blue Cross, Great-West Life – we will process the claim online with no out-of-pocket expense to the patient.
We can also bill directly for workplace or car accident injuries we have extensive experience in filling out the necessary claim forms and treatment plans patients are not required to pay for services directly after being involved in a car accident or workplace injury.
What are some injuries and conditions that you treat?
Our clinic treats many different conditions: back neck and limb pain, sciatica and other radiculopathies, sports injuries, chronic pain resulting from motor vehicle accidents, workplace injuries and many more conditions.
Is my visit covered by OHIP?
No, Active Therapy Works (our Scarborough clinic) and Bloor Dufferin Rehabilitation (our Toronto clinic) does not currently provide OHIP services; we are a private clinic. Please refer to the College of Physiotherapists for a list of designated OHIP funded clinics in Ontario.
How do I get to the clinic?
Active Therapy Works (our Scarborough clinic) and Bloor Dufferin Rehab (our Toronto clinic) are easily accessible by transit, subway, bus, and car; there is ample parking available at Active Therapy Works and meter parking close-by at Bloor Dufferin Rehabilitation Center.
Who should I see – a chiropractor, physiotherapist, or massage therapist?
We are more than happy to accommodate any preference you may have to see a specific clinician or therapist subject to their availability. If it’s a new injury or a new pain experience then we would suggest you be seen for a comprehensive evaluation from our skilled chiropractor or physiotherapist immediately. Our goal is to reduce your pain and return you back asap to your daily function. Our chiropractors and physiotherapists are skilled practitioners who treat similarly.
